Botox is an injectable treatment used to soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, prevent sweating in designated areas, and relax muscles in the face and neck.

Botox is made of OnabotulinumtoxinA, otherwise known as botulinum toxin type A. It targets both depressor and elevator muscles to either flex or relax them. The result is tighter or more lifted muscles in the chosen area.

How Much Does Botox Cost?

Who Can Get Botox? What Are the Benefits?

Botox is a wonderfully effective wrinkle treatment for the eyebrow, forehead, and mouth areas. Anyone with wrinkles in these areas can benefit from Botox injections.

Botox is typically used on men and women in their 30s-60s, but anyone seeking to prevent wrinkles can begin using Botox in designated areas as early as their 20s. A Qwella specialist will be able to determine the best treatment for you based on your age, skin type, and any previous treatments.

What Should I Do Before a Botox Session?

It’s important that you do not take any blood thinners about a week before your appointment. As with any injectable, tiny needles can cause bleeding, so avoid any pain killers before your appointment to minimize potential bleeding or bruising. Otherwise, just make sure you show up early for your appointment to fill out paperwork and get answers to any questions you have!

What Should I Do After My Session?

Many people wonder what sort of downtime or side effects they might experience from Botox. Luckily, Botox has a relatively simple and maintenance-free aftercare.

After your treatment we recommend avoiding rubbing, scratching, or sleeping on the treated area for about 4-6 hours. It’s important that you let the treatment do its work on your muscles, so we also recommend not wearing any hats if you received a face treatment and avoiding face scrubs or masks. Please feel free to ask us questions after your treatment, but we also provide an in-depth aftercare procedure.

How Many Sessions Are Required?

Each Botox treatment should last about three months, and many of our patients return every 3-4 months for another treatment. You can choose to receive fewer injections per session, but on average we recommend about 20 injections to start and 30-40 the more times that you come.

Are There Any Risks to Botox?

Because Botox is technically a bacteria, it’s important to do a little research before booking your appointment. Our professional aestheticians will also be happy to answer any questions you have and accurately choose the best amount of injections for you. Some patients can feel the following after a treatment:

  • Little red dots from the injections
  • Bruising
  • Bumps
  • Headaches
  • Allergic reactions (please do your research before booking your appointment)

Fortunately, at Qwella we haven’t had a single patient experience any of the more dangerous side effects like an allergic reaction, but we stress scheduling a consultation before booking so we can determine your best options. If you experience any of the above effects we suggest calling us.
