Best End-of-Summer Skincare Routine

Aug 02 2017

As sad as it is, summer is drawing to a close. You are probably thinking that you look a little different after a summer full of suntanning, sweating, and swimming in chlorine-filled pools. Looking different can be a good thing, if you stayed hydrated, used plenty of sunscreen, and exercised regularly; it can be a bad thing if you spent a lot of time in the sun or overexerted yourself.

We want you to feel your best at all times of the year, so here’s our routine for getting our skin back to its pre-summer natural beauty.

1. Drink Plenty of Water

Just because summer is ending and you’re probably not spending as much time outside doesn’t mean that you should lessen you water intake at all. Drinking water is vital to maintaining healthy skin and body. Water keeps your skin looking plump and fresh.

Didn’t drink enough water this summer? Don’t worry, that happens to all of us. To help get your skin hydrated enough to make up the difference, we suggest coming in for our hydrating facial mask. This mask will surge hydrating moisture through your skin, helping to plump skin, decrease fine lines and wrinkles, and just increase the overall health of your face.

2. Continue to Wear Sunscreen

Sunscreen is something we all struggle with. It can be frustrating to remember to apply, isn’t flattering, and of course we all hope to achieve a lovely golden tan. However, the effects of sun on skin are perhaps more than you realize.

You’ve probably heard it a hundred times: the sun damages your skin. You can’t see it now, but you will regret tanning this much when you’re older. Understanding that, there’s also something else to be aware of:

Hyperpigmentation. Hyperpigmentation refers to areas of skin where an excess of melanin has been produced and formed deposits, causing skin patches that appear darker than the surrounding skin. The use of sunscreen can prevent hyperpigmentation and skin cancer, but if you haven’t been one to use it in the past, we have a solution:

Our Laser Photofacial Treatment is a non-invasive procedure used for sun damage and excessive redness. If your face is beginning to show signs of discoloration and sun damage, come in for this treatment and we’ll get your face looking fresh again!

3. Visit a Dermatologist for Your Yearly Mole Check

In addition to causing discoloration, too much sun can also create moles. If you’ve had a mole since birth, it’s likely that it isn’t dangerous, but you should still get it looked at by a dermatologist. If you have any new moles or growths, it is very important that you visit a dermatologist to see if they are cancerous.

Moles can either be cancerous or malignant. Don’t wait to find out what’s going on with your skin.

4. Correct Spider Veins With Laser Treatment

Spider veins are those thin veins that appear on legs, arms, and other places after too much exertion. They are what appear when blood gets too backed up to pass through smaller veins. Exercise, sun exposure, and injuries can cause spider veins. Luckily, these are easily treated. You can come in for a quick 15 or 30-minute session to erase signs of these tiny lines, and help your skin look smooth and beautiful again!

5. Get a Brightening Facial

Qwella Spa offers a brightening facial to help get your post-summer skin looking and feeling as fresh as it did in Spring. This facial brightens, hydrates, and smooths skin. A brightening facial will help you feel confident whether you’re returning to school, starting a new job, or even just as a pick-me-up! Keep your skin healthy and beautiful with this treatment.

Hopefully you are still fitting in plenty of fun activities as summer comes to a close. Just keep in mind that it’s important to keep yourself healthy, and taking any of these steps will help you to look and feel better than you did when summer started!
